St. Clair Shores man dead after being hit by vehicle

COMINS TWP. — A St. Clair Shores man was killed when he was reportedly run over by a vehicle July 15, according to the Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office.

It appears from the initial investigation that a 2008 Ford, driven by a 68-year-old Mikado man, was traveling eastbound on M-72 approaching Weaver Road when a 40-year-old St. Clair Shores man entered the roadway and was struck by the vehicle, according to a press release.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

“The accident remains under investigation and authorities believe the man’s action may have been intentional,” the release reads. “In respect to the families, the name of the victim will not be released.”

The driver and his male passenger were not injured in the accident. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be a factor in the accident.

The sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by the Fairview Fire Department, Oscoda County EMS, Oscoda County Medical Examiner’s Office, Oscoda County Victim Services and the Michigan State Police Alpena Post.
