Small businesses to be featured at Holiday Extravaganza

Posted

MIO –– The sixth annual Holiday Extravaganza will be coming to the Mio Community Center Dec. 2, where attendees can shop local and find unique items while getting in the holiday spirit.

Tammy Gadowski, independent director of Thirty One Gifts, said she expects this year’s event to be a success for many small businesses in the area.

“Right now I have about 17 vendors,” Gadowski said. “Attendance varies a little, but last year we had more than 150 come through.”

Gadowski said she was most looking forward to the community support the vendors receive each year.

“Most of us participants are local small business owners and the support means a huge deal to all of us.”

Vendors such as Applebee Farm Honey, Avon, LuLaRoe, Jamberry, Pampered Chef, The Necklace Garden, Trades of Hope and more will have crafts and vendor booths with items for sale.

The support from the community helps the vendors and crafters to benefit by getting their names out there with the businesses and products they are promoting, Gadowski said.

“It’s all about getting your name out there and making a connection with potential customers and clients,” she said. “On the opposite side, the people who come to the Holiday Extravaganza are supporting the local businesses by shopping local. Shopping local and helping a small business owner or someone in the direct sales environment isn’t lining the pockets of corporate America, but instead it could be helping someone pay for dance lessons for their daughter or just to help support their household.”

Gadowski said the first year was held at Kittle Hall and only had eight participants and last year they had more than 20. This will be the third year the event will be held at the Mio Community Center located at 305 E. 9th St. The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
