Robert Michael Dobski Jr., 51, of Ovid passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Robert was born in Pontiac on Sept. 11, 1965, the son of Robert Michael and Barbara Louise (Basso) Dobski. Bob married Marla Mills on Oct. 15, 1988 in New Haven, Ind., and resided all of his married life in Mio and Ovid.
Bob enjoyed spending time up north fishing and kayaking down the Au Sable River. He loved watching his children play sports and was an avid Michigan State athletics fan. Bob earned his bachelor’s degree from MSU and worked for the state of Michigan as a communications adviser. Bob was a collector of many things. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marla Dobski of Ovid; daughter, Jeanise and Will Lawler of Bloomfield Hills; son, Robby Dobski of Ovid; daughter, Katie Dobski of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Sarah Dobski of Big Rapids; daughter, Rebekah Dobski of Ovid; father, Robert Dobski Sr. of Delray Beach, Fla.; sister, Margie and Chris Lewis of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; brother, Eddy Dobski of Winter Garden, Fla.; father- and mother-in-law, Chuck and Marilyn Mills of Leesburg, Ga.; sister-in-law, Missy and Mark Perryman of St. Johns; and brother-in-law, Randy and Susan Mills of Three Way, Tenn. Bob is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother; and his grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Ovid, on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Raymond Urbanek officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 19, from 2-8 p.m. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes — Houghton Chapel, Ovid. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
