Richard C. Layman, 79, of Grayling, formerly of Mio, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

Richard was born in Fairview on Feb. 24, 1940, a son of the late Alice C. (Boerner) and Richard K. Layman. He had worked for The Fred Bear Archery Company, Henkels and McCoy Electrical as a lineman and Asplundh Tree Service as a foreman, and retired from Cooper Standard. Richard enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting, nature and bird watching. He enjoyed life and loved to laugh. He will be remembered as being friendly, thoughtful and generous.

He is survived by his son, Richard Layman of Grayling; daughter, April Kirk of Junction City, Kan.; sister, Judy Bosick; and grandson, Colten Kirk.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Madilyn Kirk; brothers, David, Rhon and Gary Layman; and sister, Patricia Galbraith.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at New Hope Assembly of God, Mio, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019, with Pastor Ron Janiszewski officiating. Interment of ashes was at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview.
