Died Sept. 17, 2018


Ray Allen Blinn Jr., 92, of Grand Ledge, formerly of Glennie, passed away at home Sept. 17, 2018.

He was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Detroit, son of Ray A. and Mary Susan (Oven) Blinn Sr. Ray served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from December 1944 to December 1948. He retired after 26 years as a police officer for the city of Detroit, then held the duty of Alcona County sheriff’s deputy for 10 1/2 years. He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening and dancing, and loved dogs. Ray was hard-working, care for the “little man” and always showed care and kindness to anyone he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret; three daughters, Sheila (John) Meier, Beeth (David) Howell and Pamela (Joseph) Begovich; grandchildren, Jennie and Paul Meier, Caitlin (Kelly) Bonner, Daniel Gardon (Meg Cannistra), Michael and Rachel Begovich and Michael and Spencer Howell; nieces, Judy Palmieri and Marilyn Adler; and former partner and lifelong friend, Paul Ivanics.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Tidrow.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 345 Edwards St., Grand Ledge, with the Rev. Father James Eisele as celebrant.
