Paul L. Barlick, our beloved father and grandpa, died Dec. 20, 2017, after more than a yearlong battle with multiple myeloma, COPD and congestive heart failure.

He was a lifetime member of the Luzerne American Legion Post 162 and William Tutro Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4644. He was born Sept. 7, 1931, in the hills of Pennsylvania coal country, the son of Stephen Barlick and Mary (Patrick) Barlick. A former coal miner, he then retired as general supervisor at Fisher Body Fleetwood in Detroit. He was married to Gertrud for more than 61 years; she preceded him in death July 29.

He enjoyed watching westerns, fishing and hunting, horseshoes and pool league and bargain shopping.

Paul is survived by son, Stephen (Kathi) Barlick; daughter, Kathleen (Steve) Huntley; grandson, Nathan Paul Barlick; granddaughter, Emily Susan Barlick; sisters, Patricia, Eleanor, Clara and Margaret; brother, Michael; plus many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mio or the Oscoda County Council on Aging/Senior Center. Friends and family may also have a Mass in Paul’s name at a Catholic church of their choice.

Interment will occur on a later date in Luzerne Township Cemetery.
