Pat Kelly approved to represent District 3

MIO — Pat Kelly was approved to serve as the County Commissioner for District 3 at a May 9 Oscoda County Board of Commissioners meeting.

Commissioner Jack Kischnick made the motion to approve Kelly and Commissioner Wayne Nutt supported it. The motion was approved with all commissioners voting “yes” except Kischnick.

Kelly is a member of the Oscoda County Park Board and the Oscoda County Economic Development Corporation. His term as the District 3 commissioner will end Dec. 31, 2018.

At the commissioners’ workshop prior to the May 9 meeting, commissioners interviewed Kelly, Luzerne Fire Chief Duane Roddy and former Lost Creek Ranch owner Debbie Coulon.

The board approved for Kelly to take the position, following the resignation of chairwoman Brandy Wright at an April 11 meeting. When Wright’s resignation took effect after the board’s April 25 meeting, vice chairwoman LaNita Olsen assumed the position of chairwoman, according to commissioner secretary Brenda Moore.

Nutt was also approved to be vice chairman of the board of commissioners at the May 9 meeting.
