MIO — David Leslie Lemerand of Mio was arrested and lodged in the Ogemaw County Jail for alleged assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and aggravated domestic assault Monday, Jan. 22, according to a press release from the Michigan State Police.

Alpena Post Troopers received information from a subject who had come to the Oscoda County 911 Dispatch Center to report an alleged felonious assault at approximately 8:50 p.m. According to the press release, the subject told police a 29-year-old female, who he recognized as a neighbor, had come to his residence bloodied and battered, carrying a three-month-old infant.

According to the release, the female alleged she and her husband had gotten into an argument and he threw her on the floor of their residence and beat her face and body with his fists. Troopers responded to the scene and contracted both parties, where the release states that the victim was hesitant to cooperate for fear of her life until troopers were able to get her to give her account of the assault.

Following the investigation, 35-year-old David Leslie Lemerand was arrested and lodged in the Ogemaw County Jail. On Jan. 22, Lemerand was arraigned before the 81st District Court of Oscoda. Lemerand made bond from the Ogemaw County Jail the night of Jan. 22, according to Oscoda County Sheriff Kevin Grace. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Oscoda County Sheriff Department.
