Manford D. "Dino" Plake Jr.

Died Aug. 2, 2017


Manford Dean “Dino” Plake Jr., 88, of Mio passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at The Villa at Rose City.

Manford was born in Danville, Ill., on June 15, 1929, a son of the late Bessie (Smoot) and Manford Dean Plake Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a lineman for Michigan Bell Telephone for 43 years. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2887, Waterford, and a member of the American Legion Post 162 of Luzerne. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, bow hunting and playing bingo.

Surviving are his children, Deena Johnson, Tim Plake, Phillip Plake, Chris Brewer, Randal Brewer and Jeffrey Brewer; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda Jean Plake; four sisters; and son, Russell Brewer.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned. Arrangements by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.
