Locals invited to take a step back in time at Steiner Museum

Annual Christmas party will take place Dec. 9

FAIRVIEW –– The Steiner Museum will host its third annual Pioneer Christmas Party Saturday, Dec. 9, to take attendees back to a simpler time for the holiday season.

Steiner board member Jenny Cronkright said the Friends of the Steiner Museum and the Steiner Museum Historical Commission are expecting between 85 and 100 children to attend this year, as attendance doubled between the first and second years.

Cronkright said many donations have been given such as toys and funds, so that each child in attendance will be able to leave with a Christmas present, a wooden tree ornament and treats.

“We’re going to take wooden ornaments made from one of our members and kids will have all kinds of things to decorate them with like glue and they even picked up some glitter,” she said. “But it’s going to be fun. The Girl Scouts are helping us this year with the crafts and passing out the gifts and things, too.”

During the party, attendees will have the opportunity to hear Christmas stories, have cookies and hot chocolate and meet with Santa for gift requests and a photo.

“We have a story time, so we’ll tell a couple of old Christmas stories, and we’re trying to get it back to like it was in the olden days,” Cronkright said.

Many volunteers have been helping to plan and get ready for the event. Cronkright said she was most looking forward to seeing how many attend and to have the adults in attendance check out the museum and learn about what is there. She also wanted to specifically thank all those who donated and any who may donate before the event.

The party will take place from 2-5 p.m. and is free to attend. The Steiner Museum is located at 1980 Reber Rd. in Fairview.
