Laughs, funds raised through annual Hoops for the House tournament

The seventh annual Hoops for the House event was held Saturday, Jan. 27, and four teams competed for the annual traveling trophy to raise funds and awareness for River House through a fun day of basketball. The Oscoda County Sheriff Department took home the trophy yet again after earning a final score of 199 points.

River House is a nonprofit shelter based in Grayling that assists victims and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. The funds raised from this event will assist with general operations of the shelter in order to keep the services offered free of charge to those in need. The event raised approximately $1,500 this year.
