Judith A. Dixon

Died Feb. 3, 2018

Judith Anne Dixon, 76, of Luzerne passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Munson Hospital in Grayling.

She was born Sept. 4, 1941, in Sandusky, the only child of Eldon and Dorothy (Irving) Felker. She was a graduate of Sandusky High School, where she served as the senior class president. Judy married Jack B. Dixon on Saturday, June 3, 1961, at the First United Methodist Church in Sandusky. Together, they had three children, William (Terry) Dixon of Sandusky, Michael (Michelle) Dixon of Spring Lake and Kristie (Steve) Danek of Sandusky.

She worked at the family newspaper The Sandusky Tribune, as well as Sanilac Florist and Sanilac Glass, before opening her own embroidery business, Dixon’s Designs. Judy sold her business and retired in 2003.

Judy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, as well as surrogate mother to dozens, with an ever-accepting open door and ear, for all walks of life, that always found space for one more at her dinner table. Judy most enjoyed the up north chair swing near the campfire while being surrounded by family and friends. Visiting sessions often extended late into the evening. Judy enjoyed travel, camping and wine-making, was an avid bowler, great trap shooter and expert furniture refinisher, and loved to dance.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years; one daughter and two sons; seven grandchildren, Nicklas and Kaitlin Jackson, Olivia, Jack, Michael and Phillip Dixon and Chelsea (Paul) Dixon-Dionne; one great-grandchild, Nolan Dionne; and first cousins, James (Mary) Brown and Barbie (Tim) Stasik.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the ALS Foundation Michigan Chapter, 675 E. Big Beaver Rd., Suite 207, Troy, MI 48083, or United Hospice Service, Marlette.
