James H. “Jim” Randall, 96, of Mio passed away at his home Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

Jim was born in Mio on Aug. 22, 1921, to James and Ida (Scholkte) Randall in the house they bought on Kneeland Road in 1890. He lived there for most of his life. Jim attended the Biggs school for his elementary education, then he graduated from Fairview Area Schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Europe in World War II with the 10th Armored Division as an equipment operator. He returned to Mio after his service in 1946. He worked the family farm and cared for his mother until her death in 1957. Jim then went to Michigan State University and graduated in 1962. He worked in Grand Rapids as a construction analyst for the Federal Housing Administration until his retirement in 1995. Jim returned to the family farm on Kneeland Road where he grew up and felt he most belonged.

Jim is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine siblings.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Arrangements by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.
