Jacqueline M. Goodman

Died Feb. 4, 2018

Jacqueline M. Goodman, 89, formerly of Mio and resident of Monroe for the past eight years, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, at the IHM Senior Living Community.

Jackie was born April 5, 1928, in Detroit to the late Harold and Irene Quinlan. She married Donald E. Goodman on Oct. 4, 1947, in Detroit. Together they raised six wonderful children and worked at Cook Paint and Varnish in Monroe until moving to Mio, where they owned and operated D & J Carpet Center for more than 30 years.

Jackie enjoyed fishing, playing cards, traveling and the great outdoors in Northern Michigan. She was also a sports enthusiast and avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Mio Chapter 68 Women of the Moose.

Jackie's smile and sense of humor were contagious. So funny were her stories of life’s experiences and the raising of six children. She was adored by all who knew her. We love you, Mom.

Jackie is survived by her loving children, Cynthia Lee (Bill) Degnan of Tennessee, Janet (Frank) Sottile of LaSalle, Bill Goodman of Monroe and David (Carol) Goodman of Mio; a brother, Robert Quinlan of Geneva, Switzerland; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and adopted family of nurses, CNAs, nursing aides and housekeeping staff of the IHM Senior Living Community.

In addition to her parents, Jackie was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two sons, Tommy and Michael Goodman Sr.; and a sister, Patricia.

A memorial Mass will be held at a future date at the IHM Motherhouse Chapel in Monroe. Rupp Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Memorial donations are suggested to the IHM Retirement Fund, 610 W. Elm Ave., Monroe, MI 48162. Online condolences to the family can be sent through www.ruppfuneralhomeinc.com.
