MIO — The Toys for Oscoda County Children fundraiser wrapped up with a small get-together Dec. 23 at the Loyal Riders clubhouse.

Twenty-one families were served through the benefit, which was sponsored by Northern Sporting Goods and the Loyal Riders MC. Nearly 60 kids received something for the holidays from the donations.

Children were given between three and four gifts each and enjoyed lunch while spending time with the rest of the participants. In between playing with their gifts, children were able to decorate their own Christmas cookies.

Event organizer Tina Jones said she plans to make this an annual occurrence in the county. She said there are plans being made to do an event in the summer as well, but those are still far from complete.

“A big thank you to not only Oscoda County residents that donated, but those from outside of our area with big hearts that also donated toys for the cause,” she said.

According to Jones, there was more than $3,500 worth of toys and cash donated throughout the fundraiser. Donations were open from mid-November to mid-December.
