Outdoor fun provided at Forest Service open house, fishing derby

The U.S. Forest Service held an open house at the Mio Ranger Station June 9 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wild & Scenic Rivers and National Trails System acts. Visitors were able to go on a Kirtland’s warbler tour, participate in kids crafts, see fire trucks, meet Smokey Bear and Forest Service personnel, and more. During the open house, the Lions Club also held its annual fishing derby at Mio Pond, where Forest Service personnel were also present.
