Esther Anna Bills, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at her home in Mio.

Esther was born in Comins on Feb. 9, 1927, a daughter of the late Carrie (Beaber) and William Emig. She married Robert M. Bills in June 1948, with the couple settling on a farm in Mio. Bob preceded her in death in 1978 in an aircraft accident in Alaska. This was a life-changing event for Esther, leading to deeper trust in Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Even in her final days she continued to quote Deuteronomy 31:8: “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Esther was a true homemaker, an excellent cook and seamstress. She was an accomplished artist who painted beautifully and made creatively unique pottery. She also enjoyed gardening, walking and playing cards with friends. Esther was a very active member of the TriPoint Church of God and regularly volunteered at His Love Family Resources in Mio.

Esther is survived by her children, Mark Bills, Barbara Bills and Diane (William) Maier; grandchildren, Mark Bills II, Jessica (Lyndsey) Dymond, Elise (Perry) Clouse, Robert Wiley Bills and Meg (Corey) Engelhart; great-grandchildren, Tucker Bills, Elley Bills, Danforth Engelhart, Melody Esther Engelhart and Sophia Clouse; her sister, Velma Ouimette; and her brother, Frank (Gloria) Emig.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Carrie Emig; her husband, Robert Bills; sisters, Beulah Collins and Elsie Guedel; and her brothers, Elton, Wilbert and Gene Emig.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, from 10-11 a.m., at TriPoint Church of God, 831 W. Miller Rd., Mio. The service celebrating the life of Esther Anna Bills will be at the church Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Bill Jones officiating and lunch following. In accordance with Esther’s wishes, cremation has taken place and interment of ashes will be at Kittle Cemetery, Mio, with family.
