Elmer Township bans recreational marijuana businesses

ELMER TWP. — Elmer Township has prohibited recreational marijuana establishments from opening within its bounds.

The ordinance went into effect the day it was adopted, Feb. 18. A violation of the ordinance amounts to a municipal civil infraction. Fines for that range from a minimum of $100 to a maximum of $500. Additionally the violator must pay for all expenses the township incurs in connection with the infraction. Additionally, each day the marijuana establishment is open accounts for a separate offense of the violation.

The ordinance does not make any mention of medical marijuana-related businesses.
