MIO — Murder at the Pie Auction, a play written by Michael Druce and director by Malcom Wessing, allowed local actors to show off their skills Feb. 25-26. The play centered around a pie baking contest in the fictional town of Mynute, Alaska. The play allowed the audience to get involved in a pie auction during and preceding the play. Pie samples and appetizers were also available to attendees.

Proceeds from the pie themed murder mystery went to Love In the Name of Christ with. Love INC director Laurie Diller said pies were auctioned off for typically $35-60. However, she said two pies were auctioned off on opening night for over $100 each. Diller said 167 bought tickets for the play’s opening night.

“Everyone went out with a smile on their face,” Diller said of the event.
