Man arrested in 2012 infant death
MIO — A 25-year-old Mio man was arrested June 12 in a case involving the death of an infant on Oct. 9, 2012.
Corey Boerner was arraigned in 81st District Court June 13 on open murder charges after his son, Brantley, died at University of Michigan Hospital Ann Arbor after three days of medical treatment.
Oscoda County Prosecutor Casandra Morse-Bills said the Michigan State Police handled the investigation and charges were only brought after the alleged incident was thoroughly reviewed.
“There’s a lot of investigation that had to be completed before it was submitted for my review,” she said.
According to a press release from MSP, Oscoda County EMS was dispatched to a home on Blair Court in Mio for an emergency involving Brantley having trouble breathing. The Department of Social Services and the MSP were notified of the child’s condition and coordinated investigations were initiated.
Boerner posted $75,000 bond and will have a preliminary exam at 11 a.m. July 18.
